Embedding ACT-Like Content, Assessment, & Strategies in Daily Classroom Teaching.
A 3-hour class that helps you understand how to prepare your students for the ACT – without changing much of what you currently do!
Almost every Ohio student now takes the ACT. Securing a good score can assure graduation, qualify students for CCP opportunities, &, perhaps, most importantly, help them gain admission to college & obtain essential financial aid.
Often our students don’t perform as well on the ACT as they do in the classroom. You can help them improve their scores on the ACT – without much of an adjustment of how you conduct your daily classes.
This session helps demystify the ACT by explaining its structure, the academic content covered on it, & testing & time management strategies students can employ to maximize their performance on the test. Then we provide you with specific suggestions – related to content, assessment, & strategies – that you can implement easily so that your students will be best prepared for what they’ll see on the test. Each participant gets a comprehensive, 400-page, reference workbook with access to virtually unlimited numbers of sample questions. In addition, participants
- take a timed test so that you understand the time constraints under which students work
- cover a variety of example questions so that you see how students answer various types of questions correctly
- spend group time with colleagues to discuss how to implement/add ACT-style questions into assessments.
You will learn specific, tangible items that you can implement immediately in your daily teaching that will make a real difference for your students. With this professional development, you will be able to answer the questions, “What did I learn? How will it impact my teaching? How will I know I am more successful with my teaching?”
